From BIG to little we love them all!

We have had many requests to “meet” all our horses. It will take awhile so be patient!

“Cari “(Carousel Sultana), is a bay ,purebred Arabian. She is the last remaining lesson horse of our original group. She is 28 this year and is retired. She would still be ridden but has calcification on the ligament, which is becoming painful for her.

She had an extensive show career, and talk about an all around horse! She has shown Western, English, Costume, halter, games, Queen. Deb jumped her for several years. Deb’s daughter Bree placed 7th in the state in Walk -Trot her first year out. Cari has done endurance , was a lesson horse and did it all WELL! She has many ribbons and trophies to her credit.

She has always been a princess, so gentle when taking treats from you, never grabby or nasty. Her work was the same as well, never before have I ridden a horse with such precise form, every jump was perfection, like music. CArousel was a perfect name for her.

And all the rest in alphabetical order:

“Azreesha” or “Reesha” as we call her, is a 18 year old fleabitten gray purebred Arabian. She came with Tajah. She was adopted by the A. Sorenson family. She is learning to ride, but even at her age, she has plenty of buck in her! She has a floating trot that looks like she isn’t even touching the ground!(Adopted and moved to new pasture)

“Bo Jangles” is a new addition, but we hope to make him a permanent one. He is a huge paint gelding and was donated due to leg problems, he was no longer able to keep up with his previous owners needs ( they ride alot!).He has a goofy personality and boy do you know if he is not happy! Lots of pep and go in this big guy. He can smell a treat at 50 paces!

bill 2.JPGBill” is a dapple gray Quarter Horse gelding. He is approxiamtely 15 years old. He is hopefully going to be our “good old boy” that everyone can ride now that we no longer have our BJ. My husband Randy has claimed him as his. He has one down fall and that is the ladies! He can’t seem to functin unless he has one near. Currently Cari is his gal, sharing a stall with him.

“Coal” is a huge beautiful black Tennessee Walker that a volunteer owns and will be used by the program. Coal has personality PLUS!! He wanders the yard ( he is one of the “yard horses “) in search of treats and trouble! He is very beautiful and boy does he know it!( moved to Casey, IA -we miss u big guy!)

“Felicity” aka “Feli” is a breeding stock paint 4 year old bay. She has had a rough start in life, but is certainly making the most of it now! She doesn’t get as much as she should, and needs a person who can give her lots of love!! ( adopted and moved to new home)

“Lucky Gal” is a big, showy Palimino that Janelle N. and I found at the Story City Sale barn and could not resist! We were not wrong. She is turning out to be a really nice mare. She had some attitude but join up is helping with that. I think she is going to be a nice show horse for Janelle and a good addition to HHH.

“Maybelline” or “Maybe” ( Maybe she be a good horse, maybe she wont) is a warmblood cross out of Indigo Girl. She had an eye abcess her first year. Otherwise healthy and seems to search out trouble. She is really in need of some one to adopt her and keep her busy! She loves attention and people, always in the mix of things. She should mature to 16 hands and has the potential to be a hunt/dressage prospect like her mommie.

“MayDay” is a 2005 model, born May 1, big, dark brown Morgan/Quarter ( King Bred)cross. If we dont find the perfect home for her, she will stay here and become part of the program. She has that kind of personality to make it as a program horse. She has lots of personality and orneriness, she is always the first one up to see whats going on.

MVA Bey Shahna or “Shahna” is a 7 year old bay purebred Arabian. She is out of Bey Shahn owned by Russ and Kelly Reynolds of Hampton, IA. Her dam is our “Cari”. We hope Shahna will be as awesome as her mama. She was not worked hard as a youngster as she is very fine boned and stands small at 14.1. She is very pretty and FAST!!! She knows she is her Deb’s princess and acts accordingly.

outlaw.jpgOutlaw is an ex rodeo horse. He is now our road star. He is a 12 y.o. Paint gelding who is loving his new home with “his” herd! Ashlea hopes to lease him and he loves to follow his “new mom” around.( adopted and moved to new home in Runnells)

” Poncho’s Alibi” is an awesome 7 yr old bay gelding, the grandson of Secretariat! He had an injury at the track and needed time off. We picked him up backside at Prairie Meadows. After his rest, he was able to learn how to be a horse. He is LOVING it! He is just a delight to be around, perfect ground manners, loves attention and people. ( AND carrots) “Carrots from Heaven” is his initial story. He is in a foster home and is doing very well on his retraining. Connie (his foster mom) thinks he would be a great hunter/jumper or dressage prospect. “He is just so very willing to do anything you ask!” she comments about him. ( adopted by foster mom in Casey IA)

“Shiloh” is our  2 year old Tennesse Walker /Quarter Horse. She is a unique color. We have not found a name  for the color but the color is a lite caramel color. She has caramel eyes. She is Rylie’s (a volunteer) favorite horse. Rylie and Shiloh have been working together since they got to HHH. The day they meet was both of there first day at HHH. Rylie hopes to adopt Shiloh soon!

“Solitude” - a 7 year old dun POA -was leased to our program to use and we all fell in love with him, and did whatever we could to buy him. He has one bad habit and that is that he is “elusive” so Deb has to catch him if he is to be worked. He has been doing well after much ground work. He is Taiga’s (our CA. intern) favorite and they enjoyed many a sunset ride while she was here. ( adopted and moved to Waterloo)

“Spirit” is one of the first horses we took and Nicole has done wonders with him. He is a beautiful buckskin, we wonder if he is a mustang. Abused, Spirit would just tremble all over when you walked in the stall with him. With Nicoles unlimited patience ( and unlimited supply of treats), he is doing well and a favorite with the EAP groups. He has ringbone and navicular so he is a candidate for vet research when they do leg transplants. The vet said he must have a huge heart to allow riding with his legs, but he handles it when he can.

“Sweet Talkin Max” is our newest addition but it took him no time at all to wiggle his way into everyones hearts! He has a heart on his forehead, so we all decided he was meant to be here. “Max” has had extentive professional training, but due to navicular has pain and is not going to be a top show horse his previous owners had hoped for, so was donated to the programs. ( adopted and moved to Indianola)

“Tajah” is a 19 year old stunning copper purebred Arabian gelding. He has nice white socks and a big blaze, which cause him to have troublesome bouts with scratches-YUK! He was donated due to his owners failing health. He was adopted by the A. Sorenson family, who are having a blast with him!

DSC07194.jpg“Willie” or “Wild Bill” has a new job in the office, so he has been practicing coming into our office (pic to come!). He is a 7 year old miniature pony. He is a tri-colored paint. He has been on a diet, but sure gets alot of treats! He is full of spunk and we are hoping to start him driving this summer. He was a stallion when we got him, but that has changed, but he is not accepting that idea yet, escapes and tries to chase the mares around!
